G2 misuratori – Certified company ISO 9001:2000 by DNV

No.: CERT-03154-AQ-TRI-SINCERT

Design and manufacture
of water meters

G2 misuratori has been awarded with the Quality Management System Certificate in 1998 for the manufacturing of water meters ISO 9002:1994 by the Det Norske Veritas Italia. In July 1999 this recognition was extended to the design as well ISO 9001:1994.

Finally in November 2003 the quality management system was updated according to the new Vision legislation ISO 9001:2000 and in October 2009 according to the ISO 9001:2008.

The company has therefore arranged for a Quality System Management organised in procedures according to the International Legislation ISO 9001:2008 requirements; the company is strongly committed to continually update and improves this.

All the procedures are managed according to the Legislation requirements and their interactions are explained by a detailed scheme. All these documents and procedures are mentioned in each section of the quality system manual.

The main company procedures are:

  • data acquisition and control of client requirements;
  • product design if applicable;
  • production and control.

In addition to the above, other procedures ar: planning and control on the production, maintenance and management of measuring devices, supply.

The company managing is achieved by the management process (which includes management control, personnel at complete disposal, managing of all the documents) and by the improvement process ( including the management of non conformity products, complaints and all the analisys and improvement systems as per the chapter 8 according the legislation ISO 9001:2008.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR VANE WHEEL WATER METERS FOR POTABLE WATER (MULTI-JET SEALED REGISTER METERS)

1. Technical details:

  • Vane wheel multi-jet water meters;
  • Movement transmission between the vane wheel and the totaliser: mechanical drive;
  • Straight reading on numbered drums housed in a sealed chamber;
  • Nominal working pressure: 16 bar;
  • Suitable for cold water up to 30°C but safe operate with water up to 50°C; a certificate issued by a notified body certifies that ½” and ¾” water meters can operate with water up to 50°C and that the metrological performance of the meters are also ensured if tested with water at 50°C.

The water meters shall be certified in accordance to Directive 2004/22/CE on measuring instruments. The water meters shall have undergone conformity assessment procedure B + D and he minimum measuring range R is 160 for installation in horizontal position. On module B it is clearly stated that the flow profile sensitivity classes are U=0/ D= o (upstream and downstream straight lengths not required) and that the temperature class is T50.
The water meters shall be certified for use with potable water.

2. Functional description

2.a Body and closing ring
The body shall be in cast bras (OT 58) and shall be protected by internal and external epoxy powder coating (/furnace curing) having a nimimum thickness of 60 micron. Body ends to be threaded . The body to have on one side at least an arrow in relief indicating the water flow direction.

The closing rings to be in hot forged brass (OT58).The surface to be flawless and smooth.

2.b Strainer
The meter shall have an inlet strainer with a wide straining aread. The strainer shall be made of non-toxic plastic.

2.c Vane wheel
Vane wheel to be from non-toxic anhygroscopic plastic. The counter pivot to be fitted on a hard stone which ensures smooth rotation at low flow rates. The vane wheel shall have a low specific weight and shock resistant.

2.d Pivot
The pivot to be made in plastic material.

2.e Adjusting device
Meters shall include external adjusting device for correct calibration of the metrological performance of the water meter. The regulator to be sealed and can be accessed without the need to open/dismantle the meter.

3. Totalising Register

3.a Clockwork
The clockwork shall be made of highly resistant plastic material. A 5-numbered drum register for cubic meters shall be mounted on ½” to 1.1/4” water meters (maximum reading: 99999 m³) ; a 6-numbered drum register to be mounted on 1.1/2” and 2” meters (maximum reading : 999999 m³).
Fractions to be indicated by 4 red pointers (designed to avoid parallaxes' errors); minimum reading is 0.05 lt.
The flowing water shall not come into contact with the numbered drums to ensure reading under any conditions.

The register shall have a device that indicated that the vane wheel is moving.

The numbered drums (of adequate size for easy reading) shall be housed in a sealed case.
A transparent lens (made of tempered glass having a minimum thickness of 6mm) shall be permanently fitted to the case. The lower side of the glass lens to be in direct contact with the filling liquid.
The numbered drum's shaft to be from stainless steel.
The case to be filled by a liquid whose freezing point is lower than 0°C.
A device fitted between the numbered drums and the glass lens to avoid the passage of air which may affect the reading or cause condensation.
The case to be fitted with a device which regulates the inner and outer pressure.

3.b Optional pre-equipped version for retrofitting pulse emitter
The pulse emitter is static and bi-directional. IT shall be designed to be retrofitted without the need to remove the water meter or stop the flow of water.
The pre-equipped water meter  shall have a mineral glass lens having a minimum thickness of 6 mm.
The pulse emitter's microprocessor shall be designed to ensure the correspondence between the electronic and the mechanical reading in case of flow return and vibrations:

  • the pulse emitter detects the flow direction. In case of flow return the volume flow is registered and when the forward flow is restored no pulses are emitted until the value of the flowed volume is zero;
  • the pulse emitter detects falses pulses produced by vibrations
    The pulse emitter can also detect tampering by:
    • external magnets;
    • removal.

Other features:

  • Protection class: IP 68;
  • The pulse emitter to be fitted without affecting reading of the totaliser and the setial number;
  • The pulse emitter to be designed to allow the water meter's lid to be closed and fitting does not modify the water meter dimensions;
  • Power supply: internal battery having a minimum service life of 12 years.
The pre-equipped version shall be certified in accordance to Directive 2004/22/EC.

4. Inscriptions

As prescribed by Directive 2004/22/EC inscriptions are not in contact with flowing water (they can be marked either on a dry area or on the area filled with the special liquid).
The serial number shall be black. It shall be marked on the dial in the area which is not in contact with the flowing water and shall be parallel with the numbered drums. Serial numbers to be customized as well as the serial number in bar code form on the same position inside the dial.

5. Lid

Plastic lid with manufacturer's name.

6. Couplings

The water meter shall be provided with a coupling kit which includes:

  • 2 sealable nuts;
  • 2 threaded tail pieces;
  • 2 rubber gaskets.

The kit shall be packed in a bag hermetically sealed.

7. Packaging

Each water meter shall be packed in a single box. Each box shall bear the following information:

  • Model;
  • Size;
  • Couplings;
  • Operating temperature;
  • Serial number of the water meter.

The boxes shall be then packed in a box bearing a label with the water meters details and the serial numbers of the water meters it contains.
